The Cybersecurity Apocalypse Is Coming in ‘Months,’ AI Giants Warn

Tech giants including OpenAI and Anthropic signed a letter warning that AI-enabled cyberattacks could become widespread within months, urging immediate leadership focus, defensive AI for critical infrastructure, and punitive costs for attackers. The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency reported malicious activity against more than 100 U.S. water and wastewater systems, noting that hackers are leveraging AI-generated scripts to target programmable logic controllers.
