BioCompute, a Berkeley-incubated deep-tech startup, writes data by marking reusable DNA templates instead of synthesizing new strands, achieving a write cost of $1 per megabyte. It pairs this enzymatic write method with a licensed nanopore read process, aiming to reduce costs toward $1 per terabyte while expanding from cold-storage archives to faster tiers and eventual biomolecular computing.
