Debian votes to allow "responsible use of generative AI"

Debian voted to permit the “responsible use of generative AI” in all project activities, stating that AI tools may boost contributor productivity but do not relieve contributors of responsibility for their submissions. All contributions, whether AI-assisted or not, must meet Debian’s standards for quality, correctness, maintainability, and legal compliance, with contributors required to review, test, and modify any AI-generated output before inclusion.
