Discord’s age verification era is upon us, despite community backlash

Discord will enforce age verification for all users starting Wednesday, using machine-learning signals from account tenure, device, and activity data to classify accounts as adult, teen, or unconfirmed. Over 90% of users will not need to submit biometric or ID scans; teens will be blocked from age-restricted servers and have limited messaging options. The rollout follows a 2023 data breach that exposed 70,000 users’ ID photos and selfies.
