Dutch central bank moves 86 tonnes of gold from US citing 'geopolitical unrest'
The Dutch central bank transferred 86 tonnes of gold from its holdings in New York and Ottawa to London, increasing the London share of its 612.4 tonne reserve to 32.1% and reducing the U.S. and Canadian portions to 18.5% each. The move, executed between March and August via combined buying, selling and physical transport, aims to improve the deployability of the gold in a crisis, according to DNB president Olaf Sleijpen.
