Electric cars outsold every other powertrain in Britain last month

Battery-electric vehicles accounted for a record 29.8% of UK car registrations in August, making them the top-selling powertrain that month. Year-to-date, electric cars hold a 25.6% share, still short of the 33% zero-emission target. Meanwhile, the European Commission has proposed lowering the 2035 target from 100% to 90%, allowing plug-in hybrids and range-extender models.
