Enterprises winning with AI agents are limiting how much the agents can do alone

Autonomous AI agents fail in production due to integration complexity, rising costs, and opaque decision-making, creating regulatory risks. Gartner forecasts that more than 40% of current agentic AI projects will not survive to 2028. McKinsey’s 2026 AI Trust Maturity Survey reports an average responsible-AI maturity score of 2.3 out of 4, with only about 30% of firms achieving governance level three or higher, shifting competition toward risk-approved deployments.
