EU official calls for consolidation among Europe’s quantum startups

The EU’s upcoming Quantum Act, slated for presentation by the end of 2026, will serve as an enabling framework rather than a budget-driven regulation, aiming to foster collaboration among fragmented quantum startups. Deputy director-general Thomas Skordas urged consolidation, noting Europe’s 78 isolated firms lack the scale of giants like Microsoft, while the act seeks to create critical mass through faster coordination and shared resources.
