Europe has ordered a €388M AI supercomputer from its own state-owned champion

Europe will install the €387.8 million LUMI-AI supercomputer in Kajaani, Finland, built by Bull using AMD Instinct MI430X accelerators, 6th-gen EPYC 256-core CPUs, BullSequana XH3500 architecture, BXI interconnect and French warm-water cooling. The system, funded equally by EuroHPC and the LUMI AI Factory consortium of six countries, will deliver ten-fold AI capacity and nearly double conventional HPC performance, with deployment slated for the second half of 2027.
