Europe’s top carriers in talks to take on Starlink, Bloomberg reports

Deutsche Telekom, Orange, Vodafone and Telefónica are in early talks to form a consortium that would bid for the EU’s 2 GHz mobile-satellite spectrum, a 30 MHz band slated for split allocation, with one third reserved for a European-controlled operator. Securing that licence would let the group control direct-to-device satellite services in Europe, potentially turning Starlink from a supplier into a competitor, while existing U.S. partnerships would need restructuring to meet the European-control requirement.
