Experts worry about Nvidia's AI chip sales in China and influence over Trump

China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology asked Alibaba and ByteDance to explain how they would buy Nvidia RTX Pro 5500 gaming chips for use in servers that power the country’s leading AI models. The request follows China’s consideration of easing export controls, which could let millions more of Nvidia’s banned chips enter the market within a year. The Trump-Xi summit did not cover AI export controls, so the trade truce remains limited to a two-month extension.
