Fake US thinktank set up and funded by Israel sought to game AI for propaganda
The Hanover Institute for Public Policy, a fabricated think-tank registered by Piro Inc under the U.S. Foreign Agents Registration Act, posted 124 AI-optimized reports totaling over 560,000 words in nine days, each framed as neutral research on Israel-Palestine issues. Funded by tens of millions of dollars from the Israeli government and routed through Havas Media, the campaign aims to prime chat-bot responses with pro-Israeli narratives, repeatedly rephrasing criticism as “no court verdict” despite human-rights findings.
