FCC officially decides gigabit speeds are too good for you
The FCC, led by Chairman Brendan Carr, has abandoned the Biden administration’s 2025 target of nationwide gigabit download and half-gigabit upload speeds. The decision reverses earlier ambitions despite private providers already offering very high speeds in select markets, echoing Comcast’s long-standing claim that gigabit service is unnecessary for most Americans.
