Final Fantasy Resonance hands-on: A love letter to classic 2D turn-based RPGs

Final Fantasy Resonance uses Square Enix’s HD-2D art style, delivering bright, detailed sprites, hand-drawn portraits, crisp shadows, particle effects and an orchestral soundtrack that revives the visual feel of 1990s turn-based RPGs. The game expands the Brave Exvius story, adds a full overworld with towns, side quests, Chocobo and airship travel, and introduces a new turn-based battle system featuring elemental attacks, a Vision-based character junction, stagger mechanics, Ascension attacks and classic summons.
