The first and latest Star Wars films are coming to IMAX 70mm in 2027

Lucasfilm will release the original 1977 *Star Wars* on IMAX 70 mm on February 19 2027, using a newly restored version of the original cut rather than the remastered edition. The same year, the newest entry, *Star Wars: Starfighter*, will debut on IMAX 70 mm on May 28 2027 after being shot digitally with Sony’s IMAX-certified CineAlta Venice 2 cameras in an 8.6K source and upscaled to the format.
