Flock cameras are officially banned on state roads in Florida

Florida’s Department of Transportation revoked all permits for automatic license-plate readers (ALPRs) on state roads and gave police 30 days from August 31 to remove existing units, citing misuse, privacy concerns and “surveillance schemes.” The ban, prompted by Governor Ron DeSantis, applies only to state-owned roadways; 98% of ALPRs remain on local roads and private property, leaving further reductions dependent on additional pressure or new legislation.
