Florida and Texas both moved against Flock cameras in a single week

Florida’s Department of Transportation cancelled all automated licence-plate-reader permits on state highways and gave agencies 30 days to remove existing units, stopping new installations over privacy and misuse concerns. Texas suspended state funding for Flock Safety cameras after an audit showed $30 million of an $81 million insurance surcharge had financed roughly 3,200 of the state’s estimated 13,000 cameras. Both Republican-led states acted within a week, and Florida law-enforcement agencies voluntarily stopped using the technology.
