Florida and Texas move to block Flock cameras over privacy concerns
Florida and Texas are ending their use of Flock’s license-plate-reading cameras, citing misuse, data-privacy concerns, and surveillance abuses. Florida’s Department of Transportation will remove all 30,000-plus cameras within 30 days, while Texas has halted funding and may affect agencies such as Dallas. The actions follow indictments of officers for unauthorized database searches and broader bipartisan worries about privacy, civil liberties, and accuracy errors that have led to wrongful arrests.
