Florida asks a court to stop OpenAI building new AI models

Florida’s attorney general filed a temporary injunction in Highlands County court demanding OpenAI halt development of new AI models without independent safety guardrails and bar minors from using ChatGPT without parental consent. The motion also seeks to prevent OpenAI from misrepresenting ChatGPT’s safety, reliability, and accuracy, and from using first-person language to prolong user engagement. OpenAI has paused training of its most capable models and offered to cooperate with Florida on industry-wide rules.
