Florida sues Netflix, alleging it built its ad business on families’ data

Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier filed a 66-page complaint alleging Netflix collected detailed subscriber and child data—clicks, pauses, location, and device information—and shared it with advertisers and brokers such as LiveRamp, Experian, Acxiom, Google Display & Video 360, The Trade Desk, Yahoo DSP, and Amazon DSP. The suit claims this violates the Florida Digital Bill of Rights by selling sensitive child and location data without required notice or consent. Netflix called the lawsuit meritless and said it will vigorously defend the case.
