Following legal advice, the Nitter project will continue

On 24 August 2026 X Corp. issued cease-and-desist letters demanding the permanent removal of all Nitter instances and its repository; after consulting legal counsel the project will continue operating. Nitter is an open-source, JavaScript-free Twitter front-end that uses an unofficial API, delivers ad-free pages up to fifteen times lighter than twitter.com, offers RSS feeds and theming, and plans an account system for following users without a Twitter account. It is built with Nim, libsass, and Redis/Valkey for caching.
