Ford’s CEO says it is too late for Europe to fend off Chinese carmakers

Ford CEO Jim Farley said Europe cannot block Chinese carmakers and urged the U.S. to wait before deciding. Ford’s European plan is a 66/34 joint venture with Geely in Valencia, where it will build four electric models from 2028, including two Geely SUVs, with production starting in 2027. Chinese brands captured 12% of the EU market in August and more than 15% of electric sales, while Ford plans to compete with a universal electric pickup next year.
