Framework responds to complaints that BIOS update bricks Ryzen 7040 laptops

A BIOS 3.20 update released in June 2026 for the Framework Laptop 13 with AMD Ryzen 7040-series CPUs adds support for a haptic touchpad, new speakers, and resolves a Battery Extender status error that occurred after reboot, hibernation, or shutdown. Several users, however, report that installing the update renders their laptops unbootable, effectively bricking the devices.
