A free AI model is winning over developers. And nobody knows whose servers it runs on

Ox Alpha, an anonymous model on OpenRouter, provides free access with a one-million-token context window and claims the ability to process 100 trillion tokens daily. It has been praised by developers such as Stripe CEO Patrick Collison for coding and long-horizon tasks. OpenRouter states that prompts and completions are retained by the unknown provider and not used for training, which triggers European data-protection concerns because the processor’s identity cannot be disclosed under the AI Act. European users are therefore advised not to submit sensitive data until the operator is identified.
