Retro, founded by former Instagram engineers Nathan Sharp and Ryan Olson, raised over $21 million in a Series A led by Field Ventures and Thrive Capital, valuing the company above $100 million. Launched in 2023, the app has been downloaded roughly 7 million times, and in-app spending has increased 460 percent in six months due to subscription features like video, GIF, sticker comments, and unlimited history.
