German company becomes first in Europe to launch fully commercial orbital rocket

Isar Aerospace’s two-stage Spectrum rocket lifted off from Norway’s Andøya Spaceport at 20:12 UTC on Saturday and reached low-Earth orbit seven minutes later, becoming Europe’s first fully commercial launch vehicle. Founded in 2018 by three German university students, the company now leads a growing European launch-startup scene.
