German Konrad Zuse Museum shutting down due to lack of funding
The Konrad-Zuse Computer Museum in Hoyerswerda will close and be dismantled by year-end after the ZCOM foundation announced its termination, citing unsustainable finances despite a 2017 goal of 30 000 annual visitors. The museum housed a thousand-square-metre exhibit, 18 000 devices in basement storage and a 6 000-volume technical library, but received only 3 600 visitors in the last two months, far below expectations, and lost its €300 000 annual municipal subsidy.
