GM is giving away free home chargers, and paying drivers to charge off-peak

General Motors partners with Pacific Gas & Electric to give new Chevrolet, GMC, or Cadillac EV buyers a free home charger worth up to $1,999 and $15 a month if the utility schedules charging. The offer applies to PG&E residential customers who keep an active OnStar plan and use GM’s installer Electrum, with WeaveGrid handling remote start/stop. In Germany, Section 14a of the energy act allows grid operators to control new wallboxes above 4.2 kW, and households receive a yearly fee reduction of €110-€190 for compliance.
