GM’s Q3 sales drop 5.5% as its electric models collapse and Toyota closes to within 136,000

GM’s third-quarter vehicle sales fell 5.5% to 670,974 units, with electric models collapsing: the Equinox EV dropped 92.4% to 1,905 cars, the Blazer EV fell 84.4%, and the Hummer EV fell 72.9%. The decline follows America’s withdrawal of a $7,500 purchase credit, while Europe’s electric-car share rose to 29% of new registrations in August. Toyota’s sales increased 0.6% to 633,223 units, with hybrids up 28.5% and comprising over 57% of its total.
