Google dodges another breakup attempt
U.S. District Judge Leonie Brinkema rejected the Justice Department’s request that Google divest portions of its advertising technology business, opting instead for a suite of behavioral remedies aimed at restoring competition. She will implement most of the parties’ proposed changes—potentially including bans on self-preferencing ad auctions and requirements to share auction data—with final terms to be finalized after confidential redactions are reviewed.
