Google needs Hollywood more than the studios need AI

Google is contacting major Hollywood studios to negotiate licensing deals that would let it train AI models on copyrighted content in exchange for large cash payments. The agreements would provide studios with immediate revenue while giving Google a competitive edge over other AI firms, but they also expose the studios to significant legal and strategic risks.
