Google will invest €13bn in four Finnish data centre sites over two years

Google will invest €13 billion in four Finnish data-centre sites—Hamina, Kajaani, Muhos and Vaala—during 2027-2028, its largest single European outlay, and sign a 22-year power-purchase agreement with Fortum to support the Loviisa nuclear plant’s life extension. The deal adds 629 MW of on-shore wind, a 94 MW battery near Kajaani, and promises €3.6 billion annual GDP impact, 37 000 construction jobs and 7 000 permanent positions paid 24% above the Finnish median.
