The “GPT moment” for robots is already here. It’s just not in your home yet

Skild AI, a Pittsburgh-San Francisco startup valued above $14 billion, raised $1.4 billion in a Series C round. Within six months of 2025 it generated roughly $30 million in revenue by deploying its Skild Brain foundation model on hundreds of factory, data-center and logistics robots. OEMs such as ABB Robotics, Universal Robots and Mobile Industrial Robots embed the AI layer to convert specialized hardware into general-purpose machines, with live deployments at Nvidia’s Houston plant, unnamed wiring and construction firms, and a trial at LaGuardia.
