Greece picks its first astronaut for a 2027 Vast mission to the ISS

Adrianos Golemis, a former ESA flight surgeon, will become Greece’s first astronaut pending Multilateral Crew Operations Panel approval and will join the 2027 Vast-PAM-1 mission to the International Space Station. The mission, the sixth private astronaut flight, will launch on a SpaceX Dragon atop a Falcon 9, with Thomas Pesquet as commander, Aleš Svoboda as pilot, and a third ESA crew member yet to be named. Golemis will start training in Europe and the United States, beginning with a September visit to coordinate with Vast, SpaceX, and NASA.
