Home battery prices have fallen enough for Tesla’s 27 kWh Powerwall to lease at $35/month and Base Power’s 39.2 kWh unit at $19/month in Texas. Cheaper cells and virtual power plants (VPPs) drive the decline, with the VPP market projected to rise from $7.4 billion today to over $30 billion by 2033. Base Power and CoServ plan to launch a 100 MW VPP within a year, a timeline faster than constructing conventional peaker plants.
