How long is a new Fire TV Stick actually supposed to last?

Amazon provides security updates for Fire TV sticks for at least four years from purchase. The Fire TV Stick 4K Select and 4K Plus receive updates through December 31 2030. Both models decode AV1 and H.265 up to 4K 60 fps. The 4K Plus has 2 GB RAM, the Select 1 GB, influencing app performance. Replacement is recommended when apps crash, services drop, or storage and speed degrade, not only after the update period.
