How to Create a Tor Exit Node
The guide configures a Tor exit node on Ubuntu 14.04 by adding the Tor repository, installing tor, tor-arm, and related tools, then replacing /etc/tor/torrc with a sample relay file that sets ORPort, DirPort, bandwidth limits, contact details, and an exit policy. It also uses socat to forward HTTPS (port 443) traffic to Tor’s internal port 9001, enabling inbound connections, and warns of possible ISP harassment, legal liability, and site blocks or captchas.
