Xbox Series X/S outputs 5.1 surround sound via a TV’s eARC/ARC HDMI port when the TV supports HDMI 2.1, enabling 4K/120 fps gameplay and uncompressed or bitstream audio. Older TVs without eARC can receive 5.1 audio through an HDMI audio extractor or by connecting the console to an AV receiver, though 4K/120 Hz and VRR may be limited.
