How Xbox controllers have changed in the last 25 years

Across four generations, Xbox controllers have retained the asymmetrical stick layout and ABXY button colors while shedding the original “Duke”’s bulk, shrinking from 14 oz to about 9.8 oz. Key milestones include the 2002 Controller S’s reduced size, the 360’s wireless shift and LB/RB shoulder buttons, the Xbox One’s improved D-pad, impulse triggers, 3.5 mm headset jack and Bluetooth, and the Series X/S controller’s Share button and textured grips.
