Huawei’s answer to Nvidia isn’t a faster chip, it’s a much bigger machine

Huawei announced the Ascend 960DT AI processor, scheduled for Q1 2027, and the Atlas 960E SuperPoD, a 4,096-NPU pod delivering 8 EFLOPS at FP8 and 1 PB of HBM. The Hi-ONE optical engine cuts power by 550 kW and raises availability to 99.8%. UnifiedBus merges ten protocols, providing terabyte-scale bandwidth and 2 μs latency. CANN SDK now supports over 90 open-source projects and serves as an official PyTorch backend.
