Humanoid robots are getting even creepier (this one can cry on command)

The Yansyn-X2, created by Yanxi Technology, uses an AI algorithm to detect sad or empathetic language, bionic facial muscles to alter expressions, and a microfluidic system to produce tears. A 2023 Frontiers study showed that robots matching emotional tone with facial expressions are rated more likable, trustworthy, and human-like. The robot is a static model that turns its head, tracks people, and gestures with its arms, and future plans include replacing servo motors with bionic muscles for smoother facial changes.
