IBM Unveils Next Generation Dual-Architecture Processor

IBM announced a dual-architecture mainframe processor that can execute both IBM Z/LinuxONE and Arm instructions on the same 11-core, 2 nm chip running above 5.7 GHz, featuring AI inference accelerators, on-chip I/O processing, and a large cache for enterprise workloads. The design integrates IBM’s security, reliability, encryption and fault-recovery features with the Arm software ecosystem, enabling simultaneous Arm-native Linux and z/OS environments on future IBM Z and LinuxONE systems.
