Instagram puts new limits on undisclosed AI profiles

Instagram will rename its “AI creator” tag to “AI-generated profile” and will reduce the reach of accounts that feature AI-generated people without that label, while creators using the label face no penalty. The label applies only to profiles whose subject is AI-generated, not to routine AI-assisted edits of photos, captions, or graphics. This change follows criticism of deceptive AI influencers and follows recent backlash over Meta’s AI-generated image tool and related regulatory settlements.
