Introducing MicroLighter

MicroLighter is a client-side syntax highlighter built on the CSS Custom Highlights API, weighing about 2 KB minified+gzipped and requiring no dependencies. It loads TextMate grammars on demand, uses CSS ::highlight() instead of span injection, and offloads UI features such as line numbers to a <micro-lighter> web component with light-dark() theming support.
