Kairos Power gets up to $100M from Samsung group to build nuclear reactor for Google
Kairos Power secured up to $100 million from Samsung C&T, which will invest $70 million in equity and supply engineering services to build a 50-megawatt fluoride-salt-cooled high-temperature reactor for Google. The reactor, part of a 0.5-gigawatt Google contract, will use TRISO fuel and is slated to begin operation in 2030, following NRC approval and the company’s existing Hermes 1 and Hermes 2 projects in Oak Ridge.
