Khosla-backed Mazama Energy just raised $135M to drill deeper into super-hot-rock geothermal
Mazama Energy raised $135 million to develop horizontal wells in super-hot rock, targeting 15 megawatts of electricity per well. By drilling to 15,000 feet to access 750°F supercritical fluids, the company aims to produce 200 megawatts at its Oregon site by 2030, potentially providing ten times the power of traditional geothermal technologies.
