Lab supply companies have been selling antibodies using manipulated images

A post-doc at Northwestern University identified image manipulation in the marketing materials for more than 17,000 commercial antibodies, including alterations such as background removal and copy-and-paste of data that would merit retraction in scholarly papers. The manipulated images were originally used to demonstrate antibody performance in laboratory experiments, calling into question the reliability of the advertised products.
