A lawsuit says Oura’s sleep stages are AI guesses with a coin flip’s odds

A proposed class action in the Northern District of California alleges Oura’s “95% Sleep Staging Accuracy” claim is unsupported, citing a study of 45 patients that found only 53.18% overall accuracy and a 31.56-minute REM overestimation. The complaint accuses Oura of fraud, false advertising and unfair competition, seeking damages and a corrective-advertising injunction. Oura denies the allegations, asserting its science and multiple comparative studies validate its sleep-stage measurements.
