LG denies the standby recording. It confirms the network scanning, and says every smart TV does it.

LG smart TVs actively scan local networks for nearby devices, logging location data and nearby Wi-Fi networks, and they perform automatic content recognition (ACR) on HDMI inputs when users enable personalized ads or recommendations. The investigation found these TVs also record standby-mode audio and upload the data to LG Ad Solutions, claims LG denies, acknowledging only the network-scanning behavior as industry-standard.
