LG Energy Solution signs a 10-year Arkansas lithium deal starting 2029

LG Energy Solution signed a binding 10-year take-or-pay contract for 8,000 tonnes per year of battery-grade lithium carbonate from Smackover Lithium in Arkansas, with deliveries starting in 2029. The joint venture, 45% owned by Equinor, will supply about 90% of the project’s target output, extracted chemically from brine two miles underground. A parallel offtake agreement with trader Trafigura matches this volume, and LG’s earlier deal with Germany’s Vulcan Energy, originally set for 2025, is now delayed to 2028.
